Lights, Camera, Animation! This is LIAF’s annual showcase of the most dazzling animated student films selected from the best animation and film schools from all around the world. This is the first step on the animation ladder for these talented filmmakers, and the first time their wild and wonderful imaginations have been unleashed. Stop-motion, drawn animation, collage, cut-out, CGI, clay, ink and almost every other technique these animators can dream up are all on display here. 33 wondrous films in 3 hour-long programmes from the future stars of our animation universe.
Several of the filmmakers will be in attendance. Come along and help us celebrate this incredible work and to gain insights into their creative processes, inspirations, and the challenges they faced while bringing their visions to life.

Marci bursts into his former residence, into the peaceful rural environment, on a crowded subway train. His friends welcome him and they go to their favourite place. On the way, it quickly becomes clear that Marci cannot settle back into the old idyll.

Despite their disinterest, a young child tries to convince her local community she wants to become a statue, bringing her on a surreal voyage towards the garish monolith that lingers in the background.

A news crew investigates a mysterious anomaly reported by residents of a small Latvian village, but the more questions are asked, the less clear it all gets.

There are People in the Forest – Szymon Ruczynski, Poland
Polish-Belarusian border from a bird’s eye view. Refugees, who are trying to cross it to get to Poland, are hiding in the forest. As if in a computer game, they need to go back to square one when they encounter an evil character or the game is over.
