Environmental Responsibility Policy

Introduction

The London International Animation Festival is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and reducing the ecological impact of our events wherever possible. We recognise the importance of protecting the environment for future generations. This policy outlines our commitment to environmental responsibility and the specific measures we will take to minimize our carbon footprint.

Objectives

1 Reduce Waste: Minimize waste production and promote recycling and reuse.

2 Energy Efficiency: Use energy-efficient technologies and practices.

3 Sustainable Sourcing: Procure goods and services from environmentally responsible suppliers.

4 Carbon Footprint Reduction: Implement strategies to reduce carbon emissions.

Key Initiatives

1 Waste Reduction and Management

  • Recycling: Prioritise partnerships with venues with clearly marked recycling stations.
  • Compostable Materials: Prioritise partnerships with venues that use compostable or recyclable materials and avoid single-use plastics for all food and beverage containers, utensils, and promotional materials.
  • Digital Communication: Encourage use of digital tickets, prioritise digital communication and move annual printed brochure to online-only version.
  • Migration to cloud storage, minimising hard drive waste and printing only when absolutely necessary.

2 Energy Efficiency

  • Green Energy: Prioritise partnerships with venues and suppliers that use renewable energy sources.
  • Energy-Efficient Lighting: Use LED and other energy-efficient lighting solutions.
  • Power Management: Implement power-saving practices, such as turning off equipment when not in use and implementing timers and smart devices.

3 Sustainable Sourcing

  • Sustainable Transport: Use transportation providers that employ low-emission or electric vehicles.
  • Using print suppliers that use recycled materials wherever possible.

4 Carbon Footprint Reduction

  • Public Transport: Promote the use of public transportation, cycling, and walking to and from the festival.
  • Virtual Attendance: Offering a hybrid event to reduce travel-related emissions.
  • Virtual Meetings: Reducing travel by opting for online meetings over in-person wherever possible.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Regular Reviews: Conduct annual reviews of our environmental practices and update this policy as necessary.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Integrate environmental feedback into existing surveys for attendees to suggest improvements.

Conclusion

The London International Animation Festival is committed to fostering a culture of environmental awareness. Through the implementation of this policy, we aim to limit our environmental impact for a more sustainable future.
