We’ve teamed up with Short Film City Hull in associated with Leeds Film to bring you another chance to watch one of our best ever Best of British Programmes.
On Wednesday 26 August 2015, Hull Independent Cinema will be screening a programme that first aired at LIAF 2013, on our 10th anniversary.
Short Film City Hull is HICP’s (Hull Independent Cinema Project) new night of the best of short film and was born in 2012, when a founding Trustee had a dream of bringing an old Tower Cinema into use for showing films. Although several meetings were held (and the idea got quite a bit of media coverage) the group eventually lost momentum. However, a year later HICP was reborn when WeWatchFilms, Cult Cinema Sunday and Friends of Hull Screen joined forces with the aim of securing better provision for the showing of independent, art and world cinema in Hull. In April 2014 HICP became formally constituted as a Charitable Trust. Their long-term aim is to build a new venue for independent, world and art cinema in the city of Hull. They want this to be a place not just to watch films, but a social space; a place to learn more about film; a space for other forms of art to reach new audiences; and a place for local film-makers to produce and exhibit their work. There is a real demand for independent film in Hull and HICP are meeting it.
What can we add to that? We are exceptionally proud to collaborate with this like-minded organisation and if you’re in the neighbourhood, we wholly recommend that you drop in and absorb this admirable and excellent celebration of short film!
