LIAF 2014 Quickdraw Animation Society 30th Anniversary: Programme 2 Retrospective

October 1, 2014 by LIAF

LIAF is thrilled to announce that Peter Hemminger, the Executive Director from the Quickdraw Animation Society will be attending the festival to introduce this screening and be available for questions afterwards.

Based in Calgary, the Quickdraw Animation Society (QAS) stands as one of the most valuable organisations in the indie Canadian animation community. Since 1980 this artist-run film co-op has proved to be a valuable hitching post for a supremely talented, fiercely independent and often courageously experimental posse of animators to learn, develop and refine their filmmaking free of any constraints. As a result of a forensic search of the vast QAS archive, we have brought together TWO very special programmes in tribute and celebration of QAS.

Quickdraw Animation Society Logo, LIAF, London International Animation FestivalThis programme showcases the incredible range of filmmakers who have, in one way or another, had their careers shaped and influenced by their experiences at QAS over the last thirty years. It’s about as mixed a bag as you are going to find and says much for what a gift QAS is to the international animation community.
