When faced with the task of deciding on a overall winner, the judges were really looking for a film that pulled our pants down and smacked our buttocks until they were red raw. And we think we found such a film. This film used a combination of highly imaginative scenarios, absurdity, deadpan humour and a deceptively naive but subtle animation style to keep us riveted throughout a film which really made no sense at all. For its genuine silliness, sophisticated structure, pacing and memorable images, the award for Best Film of the London International Animation Festival 2014 goes to Storm Hits Jacket by Paul Cabon

Judges comments
The award for best British film goes to a film that tackled a complex and highly charged subject without reducing it to simple protagonists and easily digestible images. It combined a vibrant yet raw animation style with graphical references that brought out the many forces in conflict, from the level of personal family to local street cultures to the collusions of the media industry itself. The award for Best British Film therefore goes to My Dad by Marcus Armitage.
Best Sound
Man On The Chair – Dahee Jeong, France
Sound Design: Lee Jusuk & Kim Won
A film that seriously questions one’s existence. Am I not a picture drawn by someone else?

Judges comments
For a film where the sound track doesn’t compete with the images but has a quiet and effective sophisticated simplicity that is symbiotic with the picture and enhances the story: Man on the Chair by Dahee Jeong. Sound Design: Lee Jusuk & Kim Won
